US Embassy- Am Cham Macedonia Independence Day Picnic 2009
On July 4, roughly 300 U.S. embassy staff, AmCham members and the broader U.S. citizen community living in Macedonia celebrated America's Independence Day with a family picnic.
The event featured an address by current US Ambassador to Macedonia, Philip T. Reeker, the presentation of colors by the US Marine detachment stationed at the US embassy in Skopje, live acoustic guitar music by The Skopje Jazz Trio, traditional American-style hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages and desserts donated by attendees. Several AmCham members donated generously to make the picnic special. For this we would like to thank:
Pivara Skopje – provided enough Skopsko beer and Coca-Cola products for all attendees;
Analysis & Advisory Group (AAG) – sponsored the Skopje Jazz Trio performance, sound system and stage;
IMB Mlekara Bitola– donated fruit juice and samples of their famous cheeses;
McDonalds – donated children's toys;
Grant Thornton – sponsored vegetarian salads, potato chips and decorations for the event;
Gemak – donated (very popular) bottles of Smirnoff Ice;
MoveOne also donated the use of their 'bouncy truck' for children, which got plenty of use throughout the afternoon and evening.
AmCham Macedonia would like to thank the US Embassy for their cooperation on this year's event, particularly Allison Blackman, the Community Liaison Officer and Sabrina Volciak, the Community Liaison Officer responsible for this event.
