The NEXTSENSE e-Parliament solution presented on the World e-Parliament Conference 2009

The e-Parliament solution, developed and implemented by Nextsense for the beneficiary the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, was presented at the World e-Parliament Conference 2009 in Washington D.C.

The World e-Parliament Conference 2009 took place on 3rd, 4th and 5th November 2009 at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. The event was co-organized by the United Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the U.S. House of Representatives and the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament in order to promote the effective use of modern technologies in legislatures. The World e-Parliament Conference was hosted by Ms. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

This year, around 450 participants attended the conference representing parliamentary assemblies from around the world. The Macedonian delegation was headed by Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. Nextsense was represented by Mr. Vasko Kronevski, CEO of Nextsense and Mr. Igor Andonovski, COO of Nextsense.

During the opening session “How ICT can strengthen Parliaments in young and emerging democracies” the Vice-president of Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Jani Makraduli held a presentation on behalf of the Macedonian Assembly about the Macedonian e-Parliament solution.

At the World e-Parliament Conference 2009, the e-Parliament solution of the Macedonian Assembly was chosen as one of the most successful examples in the world by the Global centre for ICT in parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union - IPU.

Mr. Justin Koumba, President of the National Assembly of Congo, emphasized that with this solution there has been a major improvement in the Macedonian Assembly’s functioning, and supported the vise-president Makraduli’s initiative towards inviting the development countries to follow this example, because the implementation of ICT in parliaments can strengthen their democratic capacity.

The Macedonian e-Parliament is the first Parliamentary information worker solution in the region (Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia) and represents a basis for transformation of the methods of operation of the Parliament as well as the way of thinking and behaving of the MPs, and also has raised the Parliament operations on a new and advanced level.

After the presentation many representatives from the other parliament delegations expressed their interest for future collaboration with Nextsense. So in the future we can expect this solution to be implemented in the assemblies in some of the countries from our region, as well as in other countries from Africa and the ex soviet republics.
